Peacemaker Season 2 Finale to Fix Significant Fan Complaint, Showrunner Gunn Confirms

While the reception for Peacemaker season 2 has been largely positive, with fans and critics applauding the performances and storyline—despite the fact that the major revelation in the seventh installment didn't come as a surprise—one critique has only grown stronger as the season continues: dwindling runtime lengths.

In recent weeks, viewers have voiced frustration over the significantly reduced episode lengths in season 2, and indeed, the installments have been getting shorter and shorter. The seventh episode, titled “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (excluding the summary, opening credits, and end credits), making it the shortest episode so far.

Fans will be pleased to learn the upcoming finale is nearly an hour in length.

Peacemaker showrunner and DCU boss Gunn stated on Threads, responding to a viewer's concern.

Although this is encouraging, it remains unclear exactly how much of the runtime will be actual new footage, uncluttered by intro and outro segments, or recaps of previous events. That said, even if the episode includes all the aforementioned filler, that would still allow for roughly three-quarters of an hour for the concluding episode, which is a significant improvement after episode 7.

The director earlier hinted that the last episode would not only wrap up Peacemaker but also give a hint regarding the future the greater DCU at large will be heading and serve as a kind of precursor for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Given the cameo of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor from episode 6, many are anticipating a juicy cameo to conclude the show.

Peacemaker's season conclusion, episode 8, is titled "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to see if fans' suspicions are proven correct.
